Our attendees are raving about ADVANCE. I can't tell you how pleased I was to read these reviews:

I went into this workshop not knowing exactly what to expect. I knew I loved Madison and Trisha's work, I loved all the images they posted, I loved how they devoted so much of their time and energy into their family, and still had time for a business.

Going to this workshop has changed so much of how I am going to run my business. I went to my hotel room that night tossing and turning all night, thinking of the possibilities. Now that I'm home, before I do anything for my business I think what would Trisha and Madison do! That is my motto, I should hang it in my office. These two were so inspirational.

Not only did we get to see how they worked with their clients, posed them, talked with them, and moved them. But we got to see how they did their post processing, which was amazing! We also got a time for Q and A, which was amazing, come ready to write lots of stuff down. I have been a photographer for 3 years now, and knew I didn't know everything, but was literally blown away with what I learned. Now to implement it all.

It was also nice to walk in and feel like you knew these women, you have seen their pictures, seen their posts, and when you start talking you become instant friends! I don't think that happens with everyone.

I left this workshop not only knowing so much more, but knowing that you don't have to do a million mini sessions and never see your own family to make money. That is where I started, it makes me sad thinking back at all the moments I missed of my own families lives. I've gotten better at prioritizing, but now I know I can make more time for family and still have a successful business.

"If you are a photographer wanting to hone your skill and learn from the best you need to attend this workshop!  I have been spending the last week+ revamping, editing, getting all my cute little ducks in a row so my clients can not only be happy with the photos they get but have the most amazing experience while they are working with me.  I’ve learned more in one day then I have in months and months of research!  I honestly want to go back because I am sure that there is something I missed!!

The other amazing part is all the swag we received for attending –  it was incredible! The industry partners that are aligned with ADVANCE are top notch!  I mean I WON a Studio Baby!!!  I have been secretly coveting this amazing poser for *months* now and I actually won it!  I mean talk about luck!  Needless to say I clearly could go on and on about how wonderful ADVANCE was – I cannot wait to put all I have learned into sessions with you!

As Buzz Lightyear says “To infinity, and BEYOND”!!!!"

-Shannon LeBlanc, Shannon LeBlanc Photography

TAKING PICTURES AND BEING A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER REQUIRES SOME TRAINING FROM TIME TO TIME!!I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT DIFFERENT OPTIONS AROUND, AND TRUST ME, THERE ARE PLENTY!!I DECIDED TO INVEST IN THE THE ADVANCE WORKSHOP IN TULSA, OK AND TALKED A FEW PALS INTO ATTENDING AS WELL:))

THE PAIR THAT TEACH THE COURSE, TRISHA & MADISON ARE PRETTY MUCH OPPOSITE,WHICH IS FANTASTIC…IF YOU COULDN’T RELATE TO ONE ON A TOPIC, THE OTHER WOULD PIPE IN AND THEN YOU GOT IT.
I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT.  I AM A HANDS-ON TYPE OF LEARNER…SEE IT FOR MYSELF.HEAR HOW THEY ARE TALKING, SEE WHO THEY ARE.   AND THIS ACCOMPLISHED THAT AND MUCH MORE.   ‘THE WORKSHOP GAVE ME A FEW OF THE PIECES OF THE PUZZLE I WAS MISSING AND THAT WAS HUGE FOR ME.MY ONLY REGRET WAS NOT WRITING DOWN MORE QUESTIONS TO ASK THERE!!I AM THRILLED A COACHING CALL IS INCLUDED WITH THE COURSE BECAUSE I WILL DEFINITELY BE USING THAT!I AM ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 201 BEACH CLASS:)

-Emily McClure, Emily Megan Photography

Advance workshop was an informative and important workshop to attend. I learned things I didn't know I needed to know, as well as a few things I was doing right. It was a solid approach on the business of photography and all that it entails. Aside from the knowledge we gained, it was a fun time spent with girls with the same passion for capturing the love between family members, the youth of a senior, and the delicacy of a newborn. I am really happy I went to Advance March 2014!

-Kaci Forrest, Under The Willow Tree Photography

Trisha and Madison cut through the craziness of thousands of ways to do things and tell you what works!! Now I can invest my energy in what I know will work and enjoy bringing others great memories through my own photography. I have an incredibly busy life and I do not have any time to waste! I have left this experience knowing that I have some skill and that I can feel confident in pursuing a lifelong dream. Advance Workshop and MVP Group have been a great investment for this "frugal" girl.

Fetal Doppler Giveaway | Tulsa Newborn Photographer

An angel in the book of life wrote down my baby's birth,

Then whispered as she closed the book,

"Too beautiful for Earth"

-Unknown

fetal doppler

Miscarriage and infant loss awareness is a topic that I am all too familiar with.  Several of my friends and clients have suffered through a miscarriage or a tragic stillbirth. Studies reveal that anywhere from 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage (you can find more information on these studies here)

There is nothing more heartbreaking than the loss of a baby…no matter what the gestational age. This subject hit home when my husband and I had to experience two devastating miscarriages ourselves, one at 9 weeks and another at 12 weeks.

Pregnancy is normally an exciting time in a woman's life, but after a miscarriage, it becomes more scary and is the longest 9 month wait of your life. One thing that comforted me during this overwhelming time was my fetal doppler. We purchased it shortly after I found out I was pregnant (a few months after a miscarriage) and it rarely left my side. When those feelings of worry and anxiety started to creep in, I could turn on my monitor and hear the baby's heartbeat and instantly be comforted.

IMG_0503.JPG

Do you know someone suffering through a high risk pregnancy? TG Photography is giving away a fetal doppler to a mommy in need of comfort. Please nominate yourself or a friend and enter to win this precious gift.

To enter, you must first share this post and then email trisha@tgnewborns.com with your story. A winner will be announced on March 17, 2014.

ADVANCE Workshop | Tulsa, Oklahoma

Photography Workshop

Three weeks ago I found myself giddy with excitement as we finished up round two of our ADVANCE photography workshop. Excitement, not only for my own business, but for the photography careers of 12 other incredible ladies. Today I'm reliving that exact feeling after viewing our workshop video for the first time. What an experience it was to be able to empower these women to follow their dreams of running a successful, well-balanced business. Without further ado, I will let the video speak for itself.

 >> If you are unfamiliar with ADVANCE, click here. <<

A basic overview of the workshop includes:

Newborn session demonstration with Trisha (settings, posing, lighting, safety)

Senior session demonstration with Madison (settings, posing, lighting, evoking natural emotion)

Family session demonstration with both Madison and Trisha (settings, posing, lighting, evoking natural emotion)

Photoshop demonstration

Social media marketing chat

Full reveal of our “must-haves” and what’s in our camera bags

Delicious catered lunch

We take questions all throughout the workshop, and each attendee leaves with the entire workshop in written format so that their memory stays fresh. Also included is a free coaching call to use after the workshop, where they may ask anything that pops into their mind in the weeks afterward. We’ve got you completely covered!

And you won't believe all the swag that we send home with these attendees!

Every attendee is also entered into a giveaway for their choice of either a newborn posing puck or a Shootsac. Several attendees won other prizes too including backdrops, props, and publicity. Each attendee leaves with ALL of Madison's pro series PDFs: “25 Things I Wish I Knew,” “Senior Posing,” “Family Posing” and “Couples Posing,” as well as my video tutorials on editing: head swapping, color changing, floor fading, and more. Everyone also goes home with my TG Simplicity Set actions, as well as gift cards to several big names in the industry.

Here are some behind-the-scenes shots as well as finished images, captured by myself and Madison, along with three of our attendees: Emma, Amy, and Karen.

We spilled out an abundance of knowledge during the live newborn, family, and senior sessions. We are so thankful to our fabulous models!

Our attendees are raving about ADVANCE. I can't tell you how pleased I was to read these reviews:

"WOW, WOW, WOW....can I say WOW. Can't sleep, can't eat, can't think....about ANYTHING, except for advancing my photography business to the next level. The ‎#advanceworkshop with TG Photography and Madison Vining Photography was EXACTLY what I needed to improve my skills, market my business, and help my photography business EXPLODE! Thank you Trisha and Madison for the unique opportunity right here in the great state of Oklahoma! It has been two days since the workshop and my business is already taking off. I have already had two fellow photographers ask questions about equipment I am using or how I am doing something! WHAT, they are asking me!?!?!?!!? That's a big deal! Not only did I gain the confidence I need, but I also learned tricks of the trade, secrets to help my business grow, ways to attract my perfect clients, and made friendships with fellow photographers that I hope will last a lifetime. Thank you Trisha and Madison for the gift that will keep giving FOREVER to my business and my family!"

-Tera Shores of Tera Shores Photography

"This was my very first workshop and it was an amazing experience. There were so many things that I didn't know about that was a big eye opener. Madison and Trisha were the sweetest girls and are great teachers. I received many helpful tips on posing and simple ways to pick locations that I never realized before. The marketing and business part of the workshop was very informative and was something I needed to learn the most. I have already had people complimenting on the photos I have posted so far. I am feeling really motivated and can't wait to see how far this information takes me!"

-Karen Cooper of Karen Cooper Photography

"The Workshop Experience itself is packed and loaded with the information you have been needing if you are struggling to get your business up and going. From photoshoot demonstrations to marketing and branding, knowledge of social media the ADVANCE Workshop will keep you engaged with their hands-on techniques.I've invested in quite a few online classes & workshops. They were found to be very helpful, but sadly always left me with questions or to say in the least, very unsatisfied. I knew when I invested my hard-earned money into the ADVANCE Workshop that I was getting exactly what I've been needing for a long time: Hands-On Experience."

-Emma Holton of Open Focus Photography

"I have totally been INSPIRED by these ladies as well as by my fellow classmates; I am not sure which way to turn next - but in a completely GOOD way.  So many of my questions have been answered about photography, editing, finding my niche and developing my business.  I feel CONFIDENT and EMPOWERED.   I frequently find myself reflecting fondly about the time I invested in Tulsa at the workshop and I am so glad I had this opportunity. "

-Reaj Roberts of Posh Tots Photography

"ADVANCE was just what I needed to pull my photography business into a full force business combined with my passion for art. At ADVANCE I had my Ah Ha moment! What an amazing day filled with invaluable knowledge and technique. These girls know what they are doing! Seeing photography done right, from posing to editing and interaction with the client, just picks you up from where you were to a more solid foothold in the business. I learned so many valuable things that I am sure put me leaps and bounds in front of where I was. You can learn a lot of what these girls know by trial and error on your own taking who know how long OR you can make this small investment towards your business and the ability to tackle a successful business head on right away! I absolutely LOVE the versatility of the workshop too, you can’t find many out there that give you a solid taste of everything to help you narrow down a specialty. I totally recommend this course for anyone getting into the business or who is already in and still struggling to make it work, you don’t have to struggle anymore, these girls lay it all out for you!"

TG Gives Back | Tulsa Newborn Photographer

As I sit down to write this post, I'm still in disbelief of how abundantly God has blessed my business. So first off, a huge THANK YOU is in order. Thank you to my family, who have supported me along this crazy journey. Thank you to my loyal clients, who have trusted me with their sweet babies. Thank you to my friends who have pushed me to better myself more everyday. And thank you to God, who I put my faith in and who has guided me every step of the way.

I have seen other businesses host giveaways in honor of their fan reach, but I wanted to change things up a bit. Presenting TG GIVES BACK. As a thank you to all my devoted followers, I would like to host, not only a giveaway, but a giveaway with a cause. As you all know, I LOVE babies and my passion is newborn photography. There are two local non profit organizations dedicated to helping precious newborns and their families.

  • The Pregnancy Resource Center of Owasso is a nonprofit Christian organization dedicated to saving lives and protecting futures. They offer many free services to expecting mothers and new parents. I have personally been volunteering for the PRC and have gotten to know some of the caring members of this organization.
  • The primary mission of Crisis Pregnancy Outreach is to provide love and assistance, free of charge, to young women who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy, and to their children as well. They also are a Licensed Adoption Agency and facilitate open adoptions. I discovered this organization through my good friend, Madison Vining, whose family is in the process of their very own adoption. View their heartwarming story here.

So to honor these organizations and their selfless volunteers, I will be giving away 5 FREE NEWBORN SESSIONS (valued at $900 each). Yes, you read that right, FIVE!

HOW TO ENTER: visit this link and make a donation. For every $10 you donate, you will be entered to win one of the free sessions. Be sure to include your name on your donation if you want to be entered into the drawing. If you are not expecting a newborn, you can still participate! Any of the free sessions can be gifted to a friend or family member.

Thank you again and God bless you!

"But just as you excel in everything-in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us-see that you also excel in this grace of giving."
2 Corinthians 8:7

Siblings | Tulsa Newborn Photographer

Are you a mommy who is expecting baby #2....or #3, or even #4? Welcoming a newborn baby into the home is such a life changing experience for the whole family, especially big brother or big sister. With all the adjustments that come along the way, I feel it is so important to involve siblings in each of the new baby happenings,

including your newborn photo session

 ;)

One aspect of newborn photography that I absolutely LOVE is photographing newborns with their siblings! Not only do I love sibling photography, but I'm the only newborn photographer in my area to specialize in it. People tend to have their babies 18 months to 2 years apart, and it can be it difficult to photograph a young toddler and a newborn together

(click here to learn more about posing newborns with siblings)

.

Most photographers do not want to take on the challenge of these sessions, but this is what sets TG Photography apart from the rest. At a newborn/sibling session you can expect multiple sibling shots and family poses, as well as individuals of the new baby. Scroll down to view more of my latest work with newborns and siblings.

Here are some other activities, pertaining to the new baby, that big brother or big sister might enjoy:

  • tagging along to a doctor's appointment to hear the baby's heartbeat
  • attending a sibling preparation class at the hospital
  • helping pick out a baby name
  • choosing baby's outfit to wear home from the hospital

Color Change Tutorial | Tulsa Newborn Photographer

During a newborn photography session, the goal is to keep the baby asleep. Sometimes instead of changing out the headband, wrap, or hat, I will photoshop the color of the item in order to offer my client a variety of choices.

Do you want to learn how to achieve this look? The Color Change Tutorial is available for purchase here.

Jimenez Family | Beach Session

I have tons of photos from our vacation, but I wanted to share our family beach session first. We did not have another photographer, so we had to improvise. This is a mixture of photos taken by my husband, my step daughter, and myself. I photoshopped us all into the group shots. It was a bit windy and cold, so this is all we got in the 20 minutes we were there. Enjoy!

If you are on a mobile device and cannot view the video, visit this link: http://youtu.be/Q3ElQpIw4cM

And here is another compilation of all our snapshots and video clips. Some of the Disneyland group shots in this video were taken by the park photographers.

And in case you are wondering, I do offer vacation photography! Contact me at trisha.jimenez@yahoo.com for more info and to book me for your next trip.

Do It Yourself Disney Autograph Books/Keepsake Boxes

Warning, this is a personal blog post and has absolutely nothing to do with photography ;)

My family and I are headed off to Disneyland in the morning!!!  Can you tell I'm excited?! Not only will it be our first time to take Averie and Cavin (ages 5 and 3 1/2), but it is my first time to visit California as well. After researching for hours online about "what to do, "what to take", etc, I realized autograph books are a MUST HAVE item for any Disney trip.  Being a full time mom and business owner, I don't have a lot of time for arts and crafts, so I wanted to show you this quick DIY project that I threw together today (yes, the day before we leave...procrastinate much?)

Items you will need:
  • keepsake box from Hobby Lobby or craft store
  • spray paint (or I'm sure any paint will work)
  • wooden decor piece for top of box
  • 4x6 pack of colorful cardstock paper

Optional:
  • Fujifilm Instax camera and film
  • Instax Mini sticker pockets

Directions:
Paint the keepsake box with color of your choice. After box is fully dry, glue decor piece on top. Print a signature line on the card stock and adhere sticker pocket. This is what you will end up with:

Averie and Cavin got to choose their favorite colors for the boxes, along with their favorite wooden piece for the top. You can decorate them more with scrapbook items or stickers, but I like ours clean and simple ;)

My kids are already obsessed with these! They are so excited to meet each of their favorite character's so we can take an instant photo and have them sign a page. I'm not taking the boxes into the park, I'm just putting the paper in a ziplock bag in my backpack. You could even punch a hole and put them on a metal ring to make it easier to carry around. When we return home, I will laminate the pages. What a fun memory for them to bring home...and it took me less than an hour to make!

These are really cute too! That's where I got the idea to use the Instax ;)

Newborn photography with a sibling involved can definitely be quite challenging. I feel it is so important to involve big brother or big sister and make them feel special too. These sweet brothers were perfect little models! Here are just a few of my favorites from this newborn session.

Posing Newborn Babies With Siblings | Tulsa Newborn Photographer

Tulsa Newborn Photographer
Tulsa Newborn Photographer

One of the most challenging aspects of being a newborn photographer is posing the newborn with a sibling. But also this can be the most rewarding shot that you will ever capture! The majority of people tend to have their babies two years apart, so this means 9 times out of 10, you are working with not only a newborn, but also a rambunctious 2 year old toddler. Add in the fact that this toddler's usual routine has just been recently altered with the introduction of a new baby in the home….and well, you can see where this is going.

Some siblings adjust very well to welcoming a new little bundle of joy into their home, unfortunately, some do not. Since you never can anticipate which type you will get, you need to be prepared for anything.

Tulsa Newborn Photographer
Tulsa Newborn Photographer

THE NEWBORN BABY'S SAFETY is the most important factor when you are posing them with a young sibling. Here are a few things that you SHOULD NOT do:

  • Do not let the toddler/sibling hold the baby unattended. If that baby gets dropped, squeezed, rolled-on, squished, or slapped (yes, those precious 2 year olds like to slap), then not only will parents be upset with you, they will be upset with the sibling and the tension begins to rise and the whole session will go downhill from there.
  • Do not place the baby and sibling on high surfaces. I try to take all my sibling shots on the ground or have them as close to the ground as possible. Kids get uneasy when they are out of their element. The toddler is already getting nervous about being in an unfamiliar place and interacting with the new baby, I've noticed that if you let them sit or lay on the floor they are more comfortable with the idea. Occasionally I will let the toddler sit in a chair, this is only for the VERY cooperative siblings.
  • Do not force the toddler to do something they don't want to do. All of us mommies know what happens when you try to force your child to do something, it becomes a battle of the wills and never ends well. Instead of telling them what to do, ASK them. For example, "Do you want to kiss the baby".  If they are adamant about not doing it, quickly move on to something else. You can always come back to it later.

COMPOSITE IMAGES are another way to ensure the baby is always safe. If using a prop, place it on the ground first and snap a shot with the toddler sitting next to it BEFORE you even put the baby in/on the prop. This way you can make sure that a baby in a bucket doesn't get carelessly overturned and a spotter can focus on newborn safety without the distraction of a sibling in the shot. See below for some examples.

posing newborn with siblings
newborn sibling posing

More great tips:

  • Use a swaddle/wrap to secure the newborn
  • Lay newborn and sibling on their backs next to each other
  • When attempting composite images, place a toy in the prop so the siblings will look at it
  • Holding the baby is not the only option, lay the baby on bed/carpet/prop and then have toddler lean over the newborn to kiss/hug the baby (with parent nearby, of course)

I hope this post was helpful to you! ALWAYS REMEMBER WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING NEWBORNS: SAFETY FIRST!

ACHIEVE | Tulsa Photography Workshop

Yes, you read that title right! Due to such high demand, TG Photography and Madison Vining Photography are offering another workshop! After we launched the ADVANCE Workshop geared towards professionals, we were bombarded with inquiries about a course for beginners. And when the fans ask, we deliver.

If you’ve pondered such questions as…
-How do I get tack sharp photos?
-How do I get the background to be pretty and blurry?
-What are “f stops”?
-How do I achieve ‘sparkly eyes’ in my subjects?
-When should I use flash? (Spoiler alert… the answer is never, and especially not the one that is attached to the top of your camera! Did that stress you out? No worries — we will teach you a MUCH better way of taking photos in all circumstances without resorting to flash, I promise ; )
If you’ve wondered any of these things, this is the workshop for you. And who better to learn your camera from than two industry pros with a passion for teaching others!

So without further ado, we would like to introduce ACHIEVE, a photography workshop for beginners.

This is not your typical photography workshop. If you know me and Madison, we like to do it up in style ;)

Come join us at the fabulous barn location pictured below and learn how to use that "fancy schmancy" camera to it's full extent.

After enjoying some yummy hor d'oeuvres, we're going to dive right in to teaching you everything there is to know about shooting in manual mode, working with light, and capturing the sweet moments of everyday life with your family.

Then it's time for you to practice what you've learned with some field shooting. We will spend time with each one of you to ensure you are comfortable with manipulating your camera settings to achieve the look you want.

And that's not all! No workshop would be complete without a live session with models. You'll get a hands on demonstration on how to put your new skills to good use.

A brief Q&A period at the end will wrap everything up and you will be on your way home and more eager than ever to snap some awesome shots of your loved ones.

In case you think that you will be going home empty handed...think again! Each attendee will leave with a swag bag full of photography goodies, Madison's Clickin' It Workbook (a $99 value!), and a full set of Photojojo Phone Lenses! These lenses are perfect for capturing fun, creative shots without having to lug your big DSLR camera around to every family outing.

Requirements to participate: A DSLR camera and 50mm lens.

Tuition for the workshop is $400 and registration is now open. If you are ready to ACHIEVE, Click her to sign up today!
