TG Photography is based in Ormond Beach, but I love traveling all over Florida to photograph family beach sessions. I recently visited Seaside, FL to meet up with the Blackwell family while they were in town enjoying their vacation. 30-A is an absolute paradise! The white sandy beaches and the crystal-clear turquoise water are simply breathtaking. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location for this dreamy beach session. Enjoy!

Florida Dance Photography

My daughter, Averie, signed up for ballet class about 3 weeks ago. The first time she tried on her darling little leotard, I fell in love. I've been dying to get her in the studio for a dance photography session ever since. Today, I was able to coerce her into posing for a few ballet shots. I've never taken a dance class myself, so don't critique my poses too harshly, haha!

She is the most beautiful ballerina I've ever seen (and I'm not biased at all, *wink wink)!

Florida wife, mom, photographer, business owner, ....and SCHOOL TEACHER??

It's that time again. The start of a new school year! The children are off to school for their first day and photos are flooding our Facebook newsfeeds. I've enjoyed seeing all the smiling faces, brand new outfits, cute little chalkboard signs, etc. And let's not forget the mamas behind the camera, getting emotional over the fact that their babies are growing up way too fast... you all know the drill. Each year, I've joined in on all this excitement too. But, some of you may have noticed, I haven't posted my traditional first-day-of-school photo of Averie and Cavin! Well, before we share our picture, I have a little announcement to make.

Sooooo, you know that thing I said I would NEVER do?? Like never, ever, ever, do? Yeah, well now I'm doing it. We are HOMESCHOOLING! This year has been full of so many new experiences for our family, so why not throw in one more, right?!

Why, you may ask? The main reason is for travel purposes. I took one look at our travel schedule for the next year and started stressing about all the days that I would have to pull the kids out of school. Just thinking about all the absent days and potential makeup work gave me anxiety! I'm so relieved that now we will be able to make our own school schedule, take days off as needed, and still keep the kids on track with their school work.

Another reason we decided to take the homeschool route was to give the kids more time to adjust after our big move. We've only been in Florida for two months now, and we didn't feel they were ready to be thrown into a new school just yet. They both were 100% on board when we mentioned the idea of homeschooling!

I have to admit, the thought of homeschooling was quite scary for me at first! "Will I do a good job? What if the kids get behind? What if I don't explain things clearly. What if I get too overwhelmed? Do I even have time for this? I'm the most unorganized person ever! How will I ever pull this off?" These are just a few of the things that swarmed through my mind. But after praying over our decision many many times, those thoughts soon began to fade and now I feel confident and excited to start our new school year. As always, God's in control.

In order for the kids to stay active, meet new friends, and remain social in the community, we are joining Classical Conversations, which is a wonderful Christian-based program. We meet with a group once a week and a trained tutor goes over lessons with the kids and facilitates activities. The CC community will also offer the support I need and help me stay on track with the curriculum (if you are thinking about homeschooling, I highly recommend this program!).

This may or may not be permanent for us. We will see how the first year goes. For now, I like the idea of homeschooling Averie and Cavin during their elementary years, and then going back to public (or possibly private) school for middle school and high school.

Your prayers are appreciated as we embark on this new journey! LAWD HELP ME!!!

New Beginnings | Tulsa Newborn Photographer no more...

I have attempted to sit down and write this blog post a total of FOUR times now. So many things I want to say and I want it to sound just right! Of course, all of you who know me, know that I'm a perfectionist to a fault. With the new year beginning, TODAY is the day to finally finish it, whether it's perfect or not. In fact, one of my New Year's resolutions for 2016 is to blog more often. Ha, we'll see if that ever happens! Well, I've been stalling long enough, so here it goes...

For the past 7-8 years now, TG Photography has offered newborn, sibling, and maternity photography services in Tulsa and all its surrounding suburbs. During this time, my business has grown tremendously and has far surpassed all my expectations. I have to say, Tulsa, you all have served me well and I have YOU to thank for a great portion of the success that has been poured upon this little business of mine. But after months of prayer and preparation, it is time for our family to leave Tulsa and move on to new beginnings.

I've been blessed to have a job that allows my family to travel and this business has taken us many places over the past few years. Between travel sessions and workshops, TG Photography has been to New York City, Dallas, Seattle, Denver, Nashville, Kansas City, Hollywood, Little Rock, West Palm Beach... just to name a few. My husband and I love nothing more than to travel and our dream is to show our children as much of the world as possible.

One of our family's favorite travel destinations is Florida. After several visits to the Sunshine State, we have fallen in love with the weather, the people, and, of course, the BEACH. There's just something about this state that has been drawing us in for some time now. After some serious thought, and as I mentioned above, MONTHS OF PRAYER, we have decided to open a photography studio in FLORIDA! TG Photography will not only being offering newborn and maternity services, but also BEACH FAMILY SESSIONS as well! And that's not all, we will be adding real estate photography to the list too.

Yes, you read that right! TG Photography will be offering newborn, maternity, and beach sessions IN FLORIDA beginning in June 2016!!!

As exciting as this new adventure may be, it is also bittersweet. I'm deeply saddened to leave behind so many dear clients who have also grown to become friends. Several of you have been with TG from the start and I want you to know how much I sincerely appreciate you. But not to worry, when I'm not in town, I'm leaving you in good hands! Sara Eaton Photography has stepped up and is willing and able to provide quality photography services to all former TG clients (I hate the sound of that... "former TG client"!) Sara is dear friend of mine and we share very similar taste when it comes to our photography style. Be sure to check out her work on Facebook! You'll have a chance to meet her in person at my going away BASH in May. Everyone will be invited! Date to be announced.

Frequently asked questions:

1. Can we still book sessions in Tulsa up until June?

YES! The studio will still be open and operating as normal and I will be offering sessions to all Tulsa area clients throughout Jan, Feb, March, April, and May, so don't hesitate to contact me and reserve your date.

TG Newborn Workshops and Maternity Events will still be running on schedule as well.

2. Will you still offer sessions to Tulsa clients after you move?

YES! I have always offered travel sessions. Clients can book a travel session at anytime (travel fees apply). Also, I will be traveling back to Tulsa at least 2-3 times per year and will book sessions for those set dates. Keep an eye out for travel date announcements on Facebook and Instagram! Sessions will be very limited during those trips and will be held on location or at Sara Eaton Photography Studio.

3. Will you be having a studio destash sale?

YES! I will have a hug studio destash sale, so stay tuned to find out the date. I'll be selling furniture, props, lighting equipment, newborn accessories, etc.

4. Are you crazy?! Why leave when your business is on top?

Haha, I know, I know. Everyone I've shared the news with so far has asked me this exact question. This probably does sound a little crazy to most of you. Yes, I do have an established business here and I'm honored to be called one of the "most sought after newborn photographers in Tulsa". So, why leave all that success behind? Well, my only answer for you is that I believe the best is yet to come, no matter the location! We are eager to see what new opportunities arise in Florida for our family as well as for TG Photography.

I would be lying if I didn't say I was a bit scared too. But we have faith that God will place us exactly where we are meant to be. Yes, this move is a bit of a risk. But life is about taking risks. Great things never came from comfort zones, right? ;)

Newborn Posing and Lighting Photography Workshop in Tulsa Oklahoma

I'm so very excited to announce that, due to such high demand, TG Photography will now be offering monthly Mini Newborn Workshops! All workshops will be hosted in my current studio which is located just north of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After my first workshop back in January 2012, I knew that not only did I have a passion for photography, but for teaching as well. Now, nearly four years, and 12 workshops later, I've decided to make this a monthly routine in my studio. As a newborn photography mentor, I look forward to these opportunities to share my knowledge and empower others.

Starting in 2016, TG will host a Mini Newborn Workshop each month in the Tulsa area. These small group mentoring workshops will be limited to only 3-4 participants and each attendee will receive hands-on experience with newborn models.

TG's newborn workshop covers IT ALL!  We will spend 6 hours in the studio going over every need-to-know topic to enhance your newborn photography skills and grow your business.

The Hicks family welcomed their newest member, Cooper, a few weeks ago and I was so thrilled to photograph this little guy's newborn session. It couldn't have gone more perfect!
